Title of the lecture: “How to make stock markets more attractive for companies”

 

Susana Álvarez Otero is Professor of Financial Economics and Accounting at the University of Oviedo (Spain) and PhD in Business Administration and Management. Her research focus on the valuation of IPOs, the analysis of mutual funds and socially responsible investment. She has published her work in prestigious national and international academic journals. She is a pioneer and expert in the study of the phenomenon of going public through Initial Public Offering (IPO), analyzing for the Spanish capital market all the aspects surrounding the stock market listing process: initial underpricing, long-term performance, changes in the ownership structure and banking syndicates, among others. She has participated in numerous research projects and has been Area Director for Europe and North America in the Office of the Vice President for Internationalization and Postgraduate Studies at the University of Oviedo. She has a clear international vocation, with research stays at prestigious universities, especially in the United Kingdom, such as the University of Cambridge, London School of Economics, Queen Mary University of London or Sheffield Hallam University, as well as teaching stays at Universities in Germany and Finland. She is promoter of various international agreements for her University with European and Canadian universities.
